GREENWOOD GLEANER (Greenwood, Wis.) 08/01/1912 Dunn, James A. (28
JAN 1847 - 24 Jul 1912) James Albert Dunn
was born Jan. 28, 1847 in the state of New York, a son of Geo. And
Anastacha Dunn. His early life was passed at his birthplace and in
Ontario, Canada, where his parents moved when he was a small
boy. Deceased was
married in Marmora, Canada Feb. 1st, 1871 and three years later
moved to Seymour, Wis., wher the family resided until 34 years ago,
when they came to Clark County, Wis. to reside, having made their
home on the farm south of town the past thirteen years. Mr. Dunn was
always a hard, conscientious laboring man, trying to do his duty
and provide for his house hold. He was a man of
excellent habits, fine moral character, and sturdy constitution,
and he continued to be active in his accustomed pursuits still long
past the age which men ordinarily drop out of the ranks of the
workers. To this end there is no doubt that sunshiny disposition
largely contributed. Death occurred
last Wednesday afternoon July 24th, 1912, from an accident which
happened to him while harvesting his hay crop. A load was being
unloaded on the barn floor. As Mr. Dunn was about to trip the hay
fork the rope broke, letting him fall to the floor. The sudden
shock caused a reaction of his heart, which resulted in death
shortly after. Funeral services
were held in the Presbyterian Church Monday afternoon, Rev. W.T.
Hendren officiating. Deceased leaves
one brother, Ed Dun of Buffalo, Minn., and three half-brothers in
Canada. Five daughters and two sons, Mrs. Maggie Meed, Mrs. Sam
Howden of Beech, N.D., Mrs. Marian Ware, Albert Dunn of Poplar,
Mo., and Mrs. Perry Palmer and Sadie Dunn of Greenwood, and a wife
to mourn his sudden departure.
