GREENWOOD GLEANER (Greenwood, Wis.) 07/15/1915 Shanks, Mary A.
(29 Feb 1844 - 30 JUN 1915) Mary Ann Robinson
was born in Ontario, Canada, Feb. 29, 1844, the daughter of Wm. And
Lucy Robinson. Her girlhood days were spent there until the summer
of 1871 when she came to Neillsville, Clark County, Wis. In Oct.
1871 she was married to Alexander Shanks, whose death occurred
about eighteen years ago. Mr. and Mrs.
Shanks moved onto a farm in the town of Eaton, Clark County, and
here cleared a home in the forest. Six children were born to them,
three of which died in infancy. About twenty years
ago the family moved to this city, where they made their home until
two years ago, when Mrs. Shanks moved to Eau Claire to live with
her son. Deceased was a
woman of a loving, kindhearted disposition and was always a
Christian and faithful member of the M.E. church, at which place
the funeral sermon was pronounced by Rev. J.S. Willmarth on Sunday,
July 4th, her death having taken place on Wednesday previous. She leaves three
children, Dave and Lucy of Eau Claire and Mrs. Frank Plecity of
Gilman, to mourn the departure of a true and faithful mother. One
brother, Edward Robinson, still resides on the old home farm in
Canada. Deceased was
seventy-one years of age. Burial was made in
the Greenwood Cemetery.
