GREENWOOD GLEANER (Greenwood, Wis.) 06/03/1915 Stoneberg, Stanley
(29 Jan 1864 - 24 May 1915) Early Tuesday
morning word was circulated about town of the sudden demise of
Stanley Stoneberg on the evening previous, Monday May 24, 1915. He, in company
with his wife and Mrs. Rose Van Voorhis had gone to the river
fishing in the afternoon on Monday. About six o’clock the
ladies returned home and left Mr. Stoneberg, who expected to return
soon. He had been a sufferer from heart trouble for several years
and on his failure to arrive home Mrs. Stoneberg notified several
friends and neighbors and a search was started. His body was
discovered at eleven o’clock near the railroad track and from
all appearance he had died two or three hours before. Deceased was
fifty-one years of age and was born in Prince Edward Co., Ont.,
Canada. He came to Greenwood, Clark County, Wis. 25 years ago and
has made this his home since. On Dec. 24, 1900,
he was married to Charlotte Cox. Besides his wife
deceased leaves to mourn his loss two brothers, Dan and Bert, and
two sisters, Mrs. Pringle of Trenton, Ont., and Mrs. John Heath of
North Bend, Ore. Funeral services
were held Thursday from the M.E. Church, Rev. J.S. Willmarth
officiating. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
