(9 Augl 1851 - 13 NOV 1919) Mr. Gilbert
Philips, a well-known resident of this city (Greenwood, Clark
County, Wis.), died at his home near the Soo depot, last Thursday,
Nov. 13th, at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 4 days. Deceased was born
in Brown Co., N.Y., Aug. 9th, 1851 and moved to Wisconsin with his
parents when but a child. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Mary
Monica in 1879 at Spencer, Wis. To this union were born three
children, one son and two daughters. His wife died at Spencer in
1893 and he was again married in 1898 to Sarah Voise at Granton,
Wis. He united with the
United Brethren Church when a young man. He leaves to
mourn, his wife, one son, Edward Philips of Moon, Wis., and two
daughters, Mrs. Jennie Rux of Junction City, Wis., and Mrs. Violet
Collins of White Bear, Minn. Funeral services
were conducted from the Methodist Church Saturday afternoon at 2:00
o’clock and the remains laid to rest in the Greenwood
Cemetery.
