Farning, son of Michael and Anna (Markey) Farning, was born in the
state of Maine on March 10, 1855. On the 31st day of
May 1888, he was married to Miss Martha Christie. To this union one
child was born, now Mrs. Louis Barton. Mrs. Farning died in 1891. A
few years later he was married to Miss Mary Luchterhand and to this
union nine children were born, Robert of Stevens Point, Arthur, who
died at Waco, Texas in a soldier’s training camp in 1918,
Clarence, John, Helen, Iola, Edward, Frank and Evan, who died in
infancy. The mother of these nine children died in 1914. Mr.
Farning made his home sof some years with his daughter, Mrs. Louis
Barton, and on the 14th of Oct. 1923, he was married to Mrs. Marie
Loeffler of the town of Eaton, Clark County, Wis. They moved onto
the farm where he died on Thursday, June 5, 1924, at 2:00 p.m. Mr.
Farning was well known throughout Clark County and was well liked
