GREENWOOD GLEANER (Greenwood, Wis.) 02/14/1924 Brown, Maud T. (26
JUN 1908 - 5 Feb 1924) God loves a
shining mark, and therefore has called another to the heavenly
home. Maud Thelma Brown
was born at Greenwood, Clark County, Wis., June 26, 1908, where she
grew to young womanhood. She attended the public school, having
been a member of the Sophomore Class. She was also an active worker
in the M.E. Church and Sunday school. On Tuesday, Jan.
29, Maud was taken ill with pneumonia and pleurisy. Everything that
willing hands and loving hearts could do was done for her, after a
brief illness of one week, she passed away at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday,
Feb. 5th, 1924. Although she
suffered great bodily pain, Maud was courageous and patient to the
end. Her death was beautiful in that she fell asleep in Jesus,
reminding those who cared for her of a drooping flower that at last
withers and falls. Maud has been
transplanted from the garden of earth to her home above, where
flowers never cease to bloom. She saw beauty in
every thing, being a lover of nature and was especially fond of
children. This naturally
warmed all hearts toward her and made her a general favorite among
both old and young. She always thought of others rather than self
and her last hours were passed in speaking of members of the family
and their welfare. Funeral services
were held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the M.E. Church, Rev. Thompson
delivering a very appropriate sermon and the High School attending
in a body. The floral
offerings were most beautiful and the day, although cold, was
bright. As Maud was borne to the Greenwood Cemetery and laid to
rest, an occasional snow flake fell pure and white, so typical of
her young life. She leaves to
mourn her loss her parents Mr. and Mrs. Bert Brown, one sister and
four brothers, one brother Russel having preceded her n death seven
years ago.
