Amundsen was born in Christiania , Norway, in 1873. At the age of 27,
he was married to Karen Nygaard, who preceded him in death in 1925.
To this union were born three daughters, Amanda and Jennie of
Chicago, and Mrs. Anna Powers of Harbor Grace, Newfoundland, and a
son Charles living on a farm 9 miles northeast of Greenwood. After coming to
this country Mr. Amundsen resided at East Moline, Ill., where he
was employed as a molder. In 1917 he moved his family to the farm
now occupied by his son. In 1927 he left the farm and went to
Libertyville, Ill., where he was employed at the Spinney Run Farm
until he met his death on Oct. 14, 1934, being struck by a car. He
was 60 years old. He also leaves a
brother, Matt, of Obercrombie, N.D. Funeral services
were held from the United Lutheran Church (Greenwood, Clark County)
Friday afternoon, Rev. M.K. Aaberg officiating. The body was laid
to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery.
