County Republican & Press (Neillsville, Wis.) 07/15/1920 Newbecker, Jacob
(1884? - 11 Jul 1920) Sunday afternoon
about five o’clock, Jacob Newbecker, who lived in the town of
Levis, Clark County, Wis., south of the city, was instantly killed
just north of the Catholic Church in Neillsville, by his automobile
turning over. No one saw the accident, but it is supposed that he
was attempting to fill and light his pipe and let go of the
steering wheel for that purpose. The overturned auto lay across his
neck, which was broken. Deceased was 36
years of age. He was born in Austria and came to this county with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Newbecker when he was a small boy.
They settled on the farm in Levis about 23 years ago. Here he grew
to manhood. He was a good worker, honest and upright and well liked
by all who knew him. He is survived by his parents and four
brothers, George, Frank, Will and Matt. The funeral was
held Wednesday, Rev. Hasz of Granton officiating.
