(16 NOV 1875 - 19 Jul 1920) Monday morning
Frank E. Winter, a farmer of west Pine Valley, Clark County, Wis.,
met his death in a tragic manner. His brother Julius, who lives
near his home and who carries on the farm with him, came over to
help with the chores early in the morning. Not finding all the cows
at the barn he went back into the pasture, found the rest of the
cows and called to his brother, who was father back in the pasture,
that the cows were there, and received an answer. Julius returned
to the barn and after milking one cow became anxious about his
brother and went to search for him. Seeing smoke back in the
pasture he went there and found several brush piles burning, and in
the edge of one was the body of his brother, Frank, badly burned.
It is believed that he was taken with heart failure as he stooped
to fire the brush pile and fell into the fire helpless. He had had
some trouble with his heart previously. Deceased was born
in Grant Co., and was 44 years, 8 months and 3 days old. He moved
here about 5 years ago and was a man of excellent character. He
leaves a wife, but no children. He leaves also his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Kerr, Jos. Winter, and three brothers, Julius A., Eli and
Arthur Winter. The funeral was
held Wednesday at the Eberhardt Undertaking Parlors.
