County Republican & Press (Neillsville, Wis.) 11/25/1920 Larsen, Hjalmar
(1882 - 20 NOV 1920) The sudden death
of Hjalmar Larsen Saturday afternoon, came as a great shock to the
people of Evan. Mr. Larsen
conducted his business on Saturday and was in his usual health when
seen a few minutes before his death. He had just shaved a man and
another customer coming into the place of business a few minutes
later found his lifeless body, heart trouble being the cause of his
death. Mr. Larsen was
born in Denmark thirty-eight years ago. He worked around Evan for a
number of years, going from here to North Dakota, where he spent
some time, returning to this place three years ago, since which
time he has been engaged in the barber business and also operating
a pool room and confectionery business. He was honored by his
fellow townsmen on being elected to the office of mayor, which
office he held at the time of his death. The deceased
leaves to mourn his death, one brother, George of Neillsville,
Clark County, Wis., and an uncle and Aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Soren
Larsen of Evan. Funeral services were held in the Danish Lutheran
Church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Werner of Sleepy Eye officiating.
The remains were interred in the Brookville Cemetery. (Sleepy Eye,
