County Republican & Press (Neillsville, Wis.) 01/20/1921 Thiede, Herman
(1854? - 15 Jan 1921) Herman Thiede died
suddenly Saturday night about 8:30 o’clock at his home south
of Granton, Clark County, Wis. He went out to pull the windmill
into gear to set the pump going. His wife thought she heard him
call, and going out saw him stagger. She caught him as he sank
down, but he died immediately. He was 66 years old and was born in
Germany. He came to Clark County many years ago and developed a
fine farm in the town of Grant. He was an honest industrious man
and had many friends. He leaves his wife and five children: Mrs.
Gus Garbusch of York, Mrs. Ed Wiesner of Lynn, Miss Emma Thiede at
home, Ewald, who carries on the home farm, and Margaret Thiede, who
teaches in Pennsylvania. By a strange coincidence she was on her
way home and arrived the day after her father died. The funeral was
held Wednesday at the Lutheran Church at Granton.
