County Republican & Press (Neillsville, Wis.) 03/24/1921 Carskaden, John
(1912? - 18 Mar 1921) John Carskaden,
the eight year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Orson Carskaden, is dead and
two small sons of Mr. and Mrs. John Moen barely escaped the same
fate, from eating poisonous roots supposed to be wild parsnips.
Friday night on their way home from school they dug out some roots
and ate them. They immediately became very sick and in less than
two hours the little Carskaden boy was dead. Doctors were summoned
but too late to save his life; the Moen boys, however, are
recovering. John Carskaden was
a fine bright boy, and this death is a great shock to all who knew
him. The funeral was
held at the Catholic Church Monday forenoon.
