(1846 - 28 Apr 1921) Jos. Lastofka, one
of the old residents of this locality, died at the home of his son,
Martin, in this city, April 23, 1921, aged nearly 75. He was born in
Bohemia and when a boy, he came to Milwaukee. In 1876 he moved to
the town of York, Clark County, Wis., where he developed a fine
farm and lived till 1903, when he moved to Neillsville. His wife
died Dec. 6, 1910. For more than two years his health was very poor
and for 18 months past he was confined to his bed. He was a man
greatly respected for his industry and honesty. He was careful to
deal justly with all men and was known always as a man of his
word. He leaves three
children: Mrs. Lily Peterson of Oakland, Cal.; John and Martin of
Neillsville. The funeral was
held Monday at the home, Rev. W.T. Scott officiating. Those from away
who attended the funeral were Mrs. I.D. Lennie and daughter, Irene,
of Eau Cliare and Mr. and Mrs. Art Galster of Alma Center.
