Horton died at her home near Dells Dam, Clark County, Wis., in the
town of Levis, July 11, 1921, at 4:30 in the afternoon. She had not
been in strong health for some time and recently had a stroke of
paralysis, which was the immediate cause of her death. Deceased, whose
maiden name was Olive M. DePeu, was born in the State of New York,
Feb. 2, 1849. She grew to womanhood there and was married to
Charles M. Horton July 28, 1867. They came to Wisconsin in Dec.
1880, stopping first at Merrillan. Two years later they came to
Dells Dam and settled on a farm, which has been their home ever
since. She was a woman possessed of the fine home qualities, a good
wife and mother, a helpful neighbor, giving of her thought and
energy for the good of her home and family and community. She was a
member of the Presbyterian Church and lived the life of a faithful
and devoted Christian. She is survived by her aged husband, three
sons, William A., Victor H., and Melville Hortorn, all living at
Dells Dam, and one daughter, Emily S. (Mrs. Claude Schilling) of
Altoona. The funeral was
held Wednesday afternoon at the Dells Dam Presbyterian Church, Rev.
A.A. DuBois of Neillsville preaching the funeral sermon. Burial
took place in the Dells Dam Cemetery.
