(15 OCT 1894 - 10 NOV 1918) Bernard Miller,
whose remains arrived from overseas last Friday, was born at
Whitewater, Wis., Oct. 15, 1894. He came here (Neillsville, Clark
County, Wis.) 19 years ago with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John
Miller, who bought the Dave Williams farm in Pine Valley. There he
grew to manhood. A year or more before entering the army he went to
Iowa to work and went into the service there. He soon was sent
overseas and was in the big forward movement in the summer of 1918.
He was wounded and sent to the hospital, but returned to the front
a short time before his death on Nov. 10, 1918, the day before the
Armistice he was killed in action. He was a fine young man and
greatly liked by all who knew him. Funeral services were held at
St. Mary’s Catholic Church Monday, the American Legion Post
doing military honors. Deceased is survived by his mother, Mrs.
Mary Miller, 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
