Rex, Olga C. (15 NOV 1904 - 5 OCT 2002)

Olga C. Rex, 97, Medford, formerly of Riplinger, Clark County, Wis., died on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center, Medford. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Riplinger. The Rev. Steven Gjerde officiated. Music was provided by organist Marsha Martens. Burial was in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wayne Hendrickson, Leroy Dommer, Harold Boyer, Ray Miller, Donald Newman and Steve Justman.

Olga Kuester was born on Nov. 15, 1904, in the town of Wellington and Martenburg, Minn., to Edmund and Hattie (nee Franz) Kuester. The family moved to Fairfax, Minn., where she attended a Lutheran parochial school. She moved with her family to Riplinger in 1919. She married Reuben Rex on May 27, 1926, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Riplinger. They farmed for 38 years in the town of Unity. They moved to Riplinger in 1964 and lived there until moving to the Stonecraft Manor, Medford, in 1994. She moved to the Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center in July 2000.

She was a former member of the Luther League at St. John’s Lutheran Church, taught Sun-day school and played the organ. She was a lifetime member of St. John’s and was active in its Ladies Aid. She was the church’s financial secretary for many years. She was a member of the Colby Senior Citizens and the Clark County Deutscher Klub. She made more than 400 quilts and lap robes for World Relief. Her interests included gardening, canning, and making quilts for relatives and friends.

Survivors include one son, Orville (Jean) Rex, Brookfield; two daughters, Marcella Neitzel, Milwaukee, and Betty Blasel, Medford; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Arnold Kuester, Arizona, and Victor Kuester, Milwaukee. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Reuben, on July 26, 1996; and seven brothers, Arthur Kuester, Helmuth Kuester, Edgar Kuester, Immanuel Kuester, Wilbert Kuester, Herbert Kuester and Otto Kuester; one grandson, Duane Blasel; and two sons-in-law.

Community Funeral Home, Colby, assisted the family with arrangements.
