(14 JUN 1917 - 28 OCT 2002) Wilbur S. Fields,
85, Neillsville, Clark County, Wis., died on Monday, Oct. 28, 2002,
at the Memorial Nursing Home, Neillsville. Visitation will be held
for one hour prior to an 11 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, Oct.
31, at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Granton. Music will be provided
by Jeannette Steiner, organist. The Rev. Craig Conklin will
officiate. Burial will be in the Windfall Cemetery, Granton, with
military rites accorded by the Neillsville Veterans Council.
Pallbearers will be Stan Canfield, Joe Kirk, Dave Lavey, Ken Vine,
Ron Webster and Harry Zaleski. Wilbur S. Fields
was born on June 14, 1917, in the town of Fremont, to Rueben and
Hattie (nee Sparks) Fields. He attended school in the town of
Fremont and then was enlisted into the military with service during
World War II. He married Elsie M. Hohenstein on Nov. 8, 1958, at
the Sherwood Community Church. They were lifelong residents of
Clark County. Survivors include
a sister-in-law, Gladys Palchik, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in
death was his wife, Elsie, on March 17, 1998. The Gesche Funeral
Home, Neillsville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
