Behrens, Richard (30 Apr 1913 - 3 NOV 2002)

Richard "Chick" Behrens, 89, Colby, Wis., died on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at Colonial Center, Colby. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby. The Rev. Mark Neumann officiated. Burial was in Colby Memorial Cemetery, town of Colby.

Richard Behrens was born on April 30, 1913, near Cherokee, Marathon County, to Herman and Winifred (nee Davis) Behrens. He attended school near Cherokee. He married Olga Wiersig on June 16, 1948, at Zion Lutheran Parsonage, Colby. They farmed near Cherokee until they retired. He played baseball, fast-pitch softball and bowled for many years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and its dartball team.

Survivors include his wife, Olga, Colby; three sons, Stan Behrens, Spencer, Phillip Behrens, Marshfield, and Ralph Behrens, Colby; five grandchildren; two sisters, Berniece (Milan) Knorr, Illinois, and Helen Leibelt, Marshfield; and one brother, Maurice (Ruth) Behrens, Marshfield.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and one granddaughter.

Community Funeral Home, Colby, assisted the family with arrangements.
