(25 Apr 1917 - 31 OCT 2002) Henry J. Bender,
85, Neillsville, Clark County, Wis., died on Thursday, Oct. 31,
2002, at his home. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on
Monday, Nov. 4, at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville. The Rev.
Fran Trochta officiated. Burial was at the Marie Louise Chapel,
Christie. Pallbearers were Gary Mann, Benjamin Mann, Ryan Bender,
Allen Bender, Brian Bender, Roger Schwamman and David Bender. Henry Julius
Bender was born on April 25, 1917, in the town of Magnolia, Rock
County, to George and Emma (nee Guse) Bender. He attended school in
Colby and then worked at various jobs. He married Sylvia
Ploeckelman on April 14, 1945, in Dorchester. They farmed near
Abbotsford. He later worked at a cheese factory in Greenwood. Survivors include
his wife, Sylvia; two sons, Arlen (Julie) Bender, Belmont, and Dale
(Linda) Bender, Medford; one daughter, Sandra Mann, Dorchester; 11
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Melvin
(Eileen) Bender, Mosinee; two sisters, Avelle Empey, Abbotsford,
and Virginia Swartwood, Florida; and nieces and nephews. Preceding him in
death were his parents; one sister, Florence Denzine; an infant
brother, Myron; and two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Denzine and
Eldred Empey. The Gesche Funeral
Home, Neillsville, assisted the family with arrangements.
