Frieda Block, 86, Colby, Wisconsin, died on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at her home. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Riplinger. The Rev. Steven Gjerde officiated. Burial was in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Riplinger. Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Dustin Weiler, Jenni Thames, Jonathon Block, Autumn Ress, Jason Miller and Jackie Block. Honorary pallbearers were Darnell Schoelzel, Mike Schuette, LeRoy Dommer and Katherine Dommer.
Frieda Zitzer was born on July 17, 1916, in Sheboygan, to Henry and Katherine Zitzer. She moved with her family to the Riplinger area at the age of 6. She attended Riplinger Grade School. She married Harold Block on Aug. 8, 1934, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Riplinger. After their marriage, they ran a dairy farm and raised five children. After retiring 10 years ago, they continued to live on the farm. Her interests included traveling, musical clocks, and chimes.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Block, Colby; three children, Joan (Raymond) Miller Jr., Colby, Jerry (Carole) Block, Greenwood, and Judine Block, Colby; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Emma Seefelt, Sheboygan, and Pauline Reinbolt, Clearwater, Fla.; and one brother, Henry Zitzer, Sheboygan.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two sons, John Block and Jay Block; one great-grandson, Justin Ress; one sister, Emily Clark; and one brother, Alex Zitzer.
Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford, assisted the family with arrangements.
