Carl Shoemaker was born 2 Sep 1883 in Wisconsin. His parents both began life in New York and by 1860, they had settled in Summit, Waukesha, Wisconsin.
When the 1910 Federal Census was taken, he was single and boarding in the
residence of Henry and Lulu Warner in Greenwood, Wisconsin along with their two
daughters: 10yr. old Doris and 6 yr. old Marjorie. The family employed the
unmarried 17 yr. old Florence Richmond as a servant. Thirty three year old
saloon keeper Axel Krokson and thirty old Victor Krokson who also bartended
there lived there as well. The widower, August Gallow, a 53 yr. old section
foreman and a forty nine year old divorced son of Norwegian and German
immigrants, Herman Melzer, also boarded there. At that time, his parents
were farming in Mead township, Clark County.
Carl Shoemaker engaged in photography while living Clark County, Wisconsin, particularly in the Butler area where his parents, Abram Henry (27 Oct 1837–26 Feb 1923) and Elizabeth Adelaid Mattice Mattice Shoemaker (2 Apr 1843-30 Jun 1925) & other family members farmed and raised their families.
Oct. 29, 1913, he married Velma Alice Langley.
When death knocked on his door (25 Feb 1965), he was laid to rest in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
