KRONBERGER FAMILY
The six children of Leo and Lulu (Benedict) Kronberger grew up in the York Center community with the York Center Methodist Church as their home church.
Our mother was the oldest child of the William Benedicts and lived across the road from the church until she was fifteen years old when her family moved from the York Center store to a farm.
I do not think she was ever on the church membership roll, but as a child and young woman, she was active in the church. She played the organ for Sunday School services. She often spoke of the many enjoyable hours she spent as a child playing in the cemetery. A memorial service was held for her at the church in August 1976 and burial was made in the churh cemetery.
Our father, who is 84 years old, still lives in the community.
As children and young adults, our participation in the church extended over a period from the 1930's to the 1950's. We attended Sunday School and church services and took part in many Children's Day and Christmas programs. Some of us attended member- ship classes. Since the programs were the only times we were in the church at night, the sight of the large central light fixture with all its kerosene lamps lighted and roses entwined among them for the 'June Children's Day programs was an awe inspiring sight to me and has remained a vivid memory.
Dorothy was the oldest child. She married Robert Prior from Loyal and has made her home there since that time. Their children are Michael, Scott, and Mitchell, and a daughter, Maureen, who died in 1976 at the age of 18. Robert died in 1975.
Ivan married Helen Hartung from Neillsville. They have lived in Marshfield all of their married life. Their children are Leonard, Mary, James, Linda, Jeff, Cheryl, Cynthia, Joseph and John.
Betty married George Pabich from Greenwood. They now live in Austin, Texas. Their children are Gregory, Charlotte and Timothy. A son, Rodney, died at birth.
Wayne married Ruth Burr from Neillsville and they live at Neillsville. Their children are Mark, Diane, Craig, David, Lori, and Keith.
Jean married Norbert Lavey from the York community and was the only member of the family to be married in the York Center Church. They lived in the community for a number of years after their marriage and were active in the work of the church. They now live in Nekoosa. They have three sons, Steven, Brian, and Bradley.
Jerry married Mary Puschek from Chili. They live at Wisconsin Rapids and have three children, Ann, Alan and Renee.
