ANDEREGG FAMILY OF CLARK COUNTY, WISCONSIN

Andrew, Jake, Pete and Will Anderegg came to the town of York as young men in 1883. Jake at the time was nineteen years old, Andrew was the oldest and Pete and Will were younger than Jake. Their parents had come from Switzerland and settled in Coon Valley by LaCrosse in 1865. John (father) was a cheesemaker.

They had twelve children, Andrew, Catherine, Margaret, John, Jake, Pete, Will, Henry, August, Minnie, Selma and Fred.

John, Henry and August came to Clark County later so of all the boys only Fred stayed in Coon Valley. He stayed on the home place there.

When Jake, Andrew, Pete and Will came to the town of York, they boarded at Seidelman's Boarding House in Heintown and started up a sawmill on the east side of the old cheese factory (between Magedanz and Walter's).

Later on they moved the sawmill down by O'Neill Creek, east of where Erwin Anderegg now lives. The sawmill was on the south side of the road and the brothers lived together about half way down the hill, on the other side of the road.

When John, Henry and August came, they lived across from the Pleasant View School where Jerry Schmidt now lives.

Andrew was the first to marry. He married Sophie Hanson, a girt from Coon Valley. They didn't have children.

Jake didn't marry until he was thirty-five years old, and Henry too, married at thirty-five. Jake married Lilly Seidelman whom he had met when he boarded at her parent's boarding house. They had seven children. They were:

Edwin - Edwin Anderegg married Susie Krasselt, children - Marvin and Marlene.

Marvin married Dorothy Ackerman, children - Clay, Faye, Carol, Sheryl and Lois. They live on Edwin's farm.

Marlene - married Gary Kudehenmeister (Neillsville), sons - two boys.

ANDEREGG, META (JAKOBI)

Meta married Fred Jakobi (Loyal, children Donald, (Unity) children - 12. Darlene Pischer (Mercer), Doreen Boushon (Loyal), five children, and Duaine (Chili) seven children.

ANDEREGG, ALMA (ZICHERT) 3 children

ANDEREGG, ERWIN

Erwin married Arlene Hoeft, live on Jake's home farm, sons - Jackie and Bobby.

ANDEREGG, VIOLA (BARTSCH)

Viola married Delmar Bartsch. For some years-they lived on the home farm but now live at LaCrosse. Sons - Jim, David and Lynn.

ANDEREGG, RUEBEN

Rueben married Elaine Johnson, no children. John was a bachelor and August didn't marry until late in life. ANDEREGG, HENRY Henry married Cecelia Evans when he was 35. They had three daughters: Lucille (Brussow), Marshfield, Gladys (Rayhorn), Loyal, and Marie (Cox), deceased.

ANDEREGG, PETE

Pete married Lena Schuld Schultz. Their children are: Freda, Julia, Marie, Peter (Lindsey), Margaret (Colby), Caroline (Colby), Clarence (Nekoosa) and Veriand (Georgia). Of the girls, only one married, Selma married Andrew Starch. Only Minnie is still alive.

ANDEREGG, WILL

Will married Loretta Baldwin. Their children are Edward - Edward married Violet Johnson (Greenwood Children - Jerry, Ann and Denny; Evelyn, Robert, Elmer and Mae. Jerry married Diane Denk (Greenwood), Ann married Larry Weber, Denny Married Lexie Brunner.

Mrs. Meta Jakobi remembers the old sawmill down by the creek. She recalls that it was closed only on two sides and she remembers seeing her dad (Jake) riding the carriage on the outside of the mill. When they were children they played in an old log shack that stood back in the woods, and there wasn't much of a road at that time. She remembers there was just a trail when they went to school.
