Mrs. Eva E. Marden (Death occured June 23, 1982)
Neillsville-Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Gesche Funeral Home for Mr. Eva E. Marden 93, of 303 W. 15th. St. She died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at her home. The Rev. D.E. Sprague, pastor of the Assembly of God Church will officate. Burial will follow in the Neillsville Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. today and until time of services Saturday at the funeral home. The former Eva E. Newell was born Sept. 2, 1888 in Clark County to Mr. and Mr. Wilder Lee (Carrie B. Vernam) Newell and received her education there. She was married to Leslie S. Marden Dec. 22, 1913 at Neillsville. Following his death in 1939, she continued to reside in Neillsville, where she did painting. Even after the loss of her eyesight a number of years ago, she continued to do rug weaving and handiwork. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. June Waterman, Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Mrs. Homer (Bethel) Webster, Neillsville, and Ida Cunningham, Three Lakes; eight grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Erwin and Glen, and by two brothers and a sister.

Marden, Eva E. (2 September 1888 – 23 June 1982)
Eva E. Marden, 93, of 303 W. 15th St., Neillsville, passed away in her home on
Wednesday, June 23.
The deceased was born on September 2, 1888, in Clark County to Wilder and Carrie
(Vernam) Newell. She attended county schools and lived with her parents until
her December 22, 1913, marriage to Leslie S. Marden in Neillsville ceremonies.
She remained a housewife until the 1939 death of her husband, at which time she
did painting. In her later years, Mrs. Marden’s eyesight began failing but she
continued to do rug weaving and handy work. She was a member of the Neillsville
Assembly of God Church.
Surviving her is a daughter, Mrs. June Waterman, Mesa, Arizona; two sisters,
Mrs. Homer (Bethel) Webster of Neillsville and Ida Cunningham of Three Lakes;
eight grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by her husband; two sons, Erwin and Glen; two brothers, Leo and Cassius; and a
sister, Clara.
Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon, June 26, from the Gesche
Funeral Home in Neillsville with the Rev. D. E. Sprague officiating. Burial was
made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Randy, Ronald
and Jerry Marden, Ronald Webster, Albert Mohr, and Andrew Elmhorst. Special
music was provided by Henry and Andrew Elmhorst, Rosemary McBride, Mrs. Francis
Pisor and Mrs. Don Miller.
Attending the service from out of town were Ronald and Teri Marden, Rockton,
Illinois; Jerry and Colleen Marden and children, Spencer; Ronald and Polly
Webster and children, Eau Claire; Donald and Yvonne Yeager, Chippewa Falls; and
Keith and Joyce Marden and children, Brookfield.
