Fred Karnitz, for many years a prominent farmer of North Pine Valley, Clark County, Wis., died at his home Saturday afternoon, Dec. 2, 1916, after a lingering illness, aged 53 years.
He was born in Germany and came to this country when about 19 years of age. He worked in camp and on farms in this vicinity when a young man, and in 1892, was united in marriage with Miss Mary Huhn. Mr. Karnitz was a good farmer, industrious and enterprising, a good husband and father and a good citizen. At different times he was elected to offices in his town.
He leaves to mourn his death, his wife and six children: Ernst, Alma, Tony, Lilly, Albert and Eddie, all living a home. He leaves also three brothers, Carl, Louis and William, and one sister, Mr. Fred Puttkamer.
The funeral was held Wednesday at the Pine Valley Church, of which deceased had long been a member and active helper. Rev. Reiff of Granton officiated.
