Wells, Charles (1894? - Feb 1917)
Charles Wells, aged 22, a wood cutter near Humbird, Clark County, Wis., was found frozen to death in a swamp, having been overcome within sight of his destination, while carrying home a stock of provisions.
Provisions had run low on the farm and on account of the deep snow it had been impossible to drive to town, and Charlie volunteered to start out on foot.
On the way home he was invited to spend the night with a neighbor, but fearing his brother would not have anything to eat, he kept on. He was found in a sitting position.
