Preisig, Ernest (1897? - 4 May 1917)

A dispatch to a brother at Humbird, Clark County, Wis. Friday announced that Ernest Preisig, who formerly lived here, had died in the hospital at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. Ernest came from Switzerland about three years ago and worked in this vicinity, staying with his brother a part of the time. A year ago last winter he entered the Short Course in the Neillsville High school, and for some time made his home with the family of the editor of this paper.

He enlisted with Co. A. and went with the Company to San Antonio. When the company was sent home Ernest Enlisted as a bugler in the regular army and served as such till his death. No particulars were wired as to the cause of his death.

Ernest was a bright young man, not yet 20 years of age. His parents are living in Switzerland, is brother and family at Humbird being the only relatives in this country.

The funeral was held at Humbird Tuesday with military honors. A firing squad went over from here.
