Frances Mary Swann was born Feb. 12, 1862 at Evans Center, Erie Co., N.Y. At the age of three years she came with her parents to Clark County, Wis., shortly after which the family settled on a farm in the town of Grant, where she grew to womanhood. Dec. 25, 1880 she was united in marriage with William Swann and for thirty years lived on their farm in Grant. In Sept. 1909 Mr. and Mrs. Swann moved to the city of Neillsville, where they lived to the day of her death, which occurred Wednesday, Aug. 22, 1917 from cancer.

She was the mother of three sons: Ernest of Neillsville and George and Bert, who live in the town of Grant, and together with the husband and two sisters, Mrs. Cameron of Elkader, Iowa and Mrs. Hall of Neillsville, Survive to mourn her loss.

Mrs. Swan was for many years a respected member of the Methodist Church and was sustained in her suffering by a bright hope and a firm faith in the mercy and goodness of God. She was patient in her trial, uttering no word of complaint, and won many friends by her kindly, helpful spirit.

The funeral was held at the M.E. Church Saturday afternoon, Rev. L.B. Colman preaching the funeral sermon
