Wednesday afternoon word flew over our little village as on the wings of the wind, announcing the sad death of Adelma Nickel Kuechenmeister. Wherever it touched it left sorrow, and the expressions of sympathy for the bereaved ones were many and from the heart, Adelma was the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Nickel, born at Wauwautosa 23 years ago the 30th of August. She came here with her parents 12 years ago, and after finishing the course of study in this school district when to Neillsville and graduated from the city’s high school; they taught school very successfully and well here in the country for three years or until she was very happily married to Charles Kuechenmeister Nov. 1st, 1916. On Sept. 12, 1917 Adelma gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, little Lucille Marian, when in the ordeal of motherhood grave complications developed, death claiming her at noon Wednesday, Oct. 17, 1917.
Deceased is survived by her husband and their few weeks old baby girl, by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Nickel, two brothers, Daniel and Roy, and one sister, Elinor.
The funeral was held Saturday at the Maple Works Lutheran Church, rev. Hasz officiating. (Granton News)
