Christie, McMaster (15 Jul 1842 - Dec 1917)
Martha Christie was born in Hartstown, Penn. July 15, 1842. She was married to James C. McMaster April 15, 1868. They came to Clark County, Wis. in Feb. 1877, where they made their home until six years ago, when they moved to Osseo, then to Augusta, where they resided at the time of her death. Unto their union was born four children; two died in infancy, one at the age of four years and one surviving her. She leaves to mourn her death a husband, one son Hugh, one sister Mrs. Thomas McClanathan, and one brother, Matthew Christie, both residing at Hartstown, Penn., also numerous nieces and nephews. She had no girls of her own, but has been a foster mother for a number of homeless girls. She was a loving mother and neighbor, and loved by all who were acquainted with her. She had been in poor health for three years, and the sudden shock of the death of her brother, Andrew Christie, the week previous, was more than she was able to endure.
Those from away to attend the funeral were Mr. James C. and Hugh McMaster of Augusta, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Miller and two children, Joseph P. Christie and Mrs. Maggie Lowe, all of Osseo, Wis.
The remains were laid to rest in the Neillsville Cemetery Saturday, Dec. 1st, Rev. G.W. Longenecker officiating.
