Staples, Bessie (Marriage - 26 Dec 1917)

A pretty little wedding took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Staples, east of Merrillan, Wis. on Wednesday p.m., Dec. 26, 1917, when their daughter Bessie was united in marriage with Alfred, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Sherman, of Merrillan. About twenty relatives and a few intimate friends of the families were in attendance. Miss Muriel Staples, sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid, while Russell Sherman, brother of the groom, acted as best man. Rev. James Irish officiated, using the ring ceremony. The bride was attired in a pretty gown of pink silk poplin and carried a bouquet of pink and white roses. The groom wore the conventional suit of black. These young people have grown up in our midst, are both graduates of the four year course of the Merrillan High school, and are well and favorably known in the community. After a short wedding trip to points in the southern part of the state they will return to Stevens Point, where Alfred now holds a position as electrician, with the Bell Electrical Co., and where they will be at home to their friends after Jan. 10, 1918. They will both be missed in Church and Sunday school work in Merrillan and the best wishes of a host of friends go with them.
