Braatz, one of the old resident of the town of Grant, Clark County,
Wis., and a most highly respected woman, died Sunday afternoon,
Jan. 6, 1919. She was born in Germany Dec. 5, 1849, her maiden name
being Christine Riedel. She came to this country with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. John Riedel when she was a small girl. She grew to
womanhood in the town of Grant and was married in 1872 to Jacob
Treichler. Six years later Mr. Treichler died. In 1892 she was
married to Richard Braatz, who survives her. She leaves also one
daughter, Mrs. Henry Fischer, of Sioux City, Iowa and six
stepchildren: Carl, Herman and Clara Braatz, Mrs. Will Kurth, all
living in Grant, and Mrs. Leo Moench, of St. Paul. She leaves two
brothers: Henry D. Riedel of Cayanga and Fred J. Riedel of Grant,
and two sisters: Mrs. W. F. Blake of Chicago and Mrs. F. W. Bredlaw
of Loyal. The funeral was held at the Grant Lutheran Church
