Smith, George J. (? - 31 Jan 1919)

George J. Smith formerly city clerk of Neillsville, Clark County, Wis., and with his father Geo. W. Smith, proprietor of the North Side Store, died at Plaza N.D., Jan. 31, 1919.

After going West deceased started the Plaza Pioneer and became proprietor of several other weekly newspapers. He took an active part in N.D. politics for several years and was a candidate for governor in a primary campaign. As a high school student here he showed considerable talent as a writer and developed great editorial ability in later.
