COUNTY REPUBLICAN & PRESS (Neillsville, Wis.) 08/28/1919 Tripp, Marian (2
DEC 1832 - 25 Augl 1919) A telegram
received here Monday by Mrs. S. M. Marsh announced the death of her
aunt, Miss Marian Tripp, at Colorado Springs, Colo. Deceased was a
sister of the late O. G. Trip and made her home here (Neillsville,
Clark County, Wis.) for many years, and will be remembered by many
of our older people. (Follow up in
9/4/1919 R & P) Born at Schroon
Lake, N. Y. Dec. 2, 1832; died at Colorado Springs, Colo., Aug. 23,
1919. The father, A. S.
Tripp, was a teacher and Miss Marian followed her father's
profession. Coming west in
early womanhood, she soon was given a position in the city schools
of Davenport, Iowa, where she continued to teach for 21 years,
enjoying the friendship of the Ed Crossett and Ed Lindsay families,
so well known in Neillsville. Giving up her work in 1880 on account
of failing health, Miss Tripp came to Clark County, Wis. to share
the home of her brother, Mr. O. G. Trip, and for many years, except
for intervals with friends, she lived with Mr. and Mrs. Tripp in
Neillsville and Tavares, Florida, going with Mrs. Tripp to San
Diego, Cal., in 1914. The last three years of her life have been
spent with a cousin, Mrs. Myrtle Mitchell in Colorado Springs. Her
keen mind was little dimmed by age and almost to the last each
letter had its witticism. The illness
resulting from a cold was brief and the last hours were peacefully
slept away. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
