MAY 1837 - 3 Dec 1919) Mrs. Emily Barlow
was born Emily Depew, May 15, 1837 near Trumansburg, Tompkins Co.,
N.Y. She lived there until she was united in marriage with Emery
Barlow Oct. 6, 1870. In 1871 she and
her husband came to Northport, Wis., remaining there about a year,
then returning to Woodhull, N.Y. In 1880 they came
to Merrillan, Wis. Two years later they moved on a piece of wild
land in Levis Township, Clark County, Wis., where they remained for
many years. When 19 years of age she united with the Baptist
Church. She held Sunday school in her home years before a church
was built in the community where she lived. After selling their
farm they went back to New York. Jan. 6, 1919 she returned to
Neillsville. She died at Eau
Claire Dec. 3, 1919 at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 19 days.
Funeral services were held at Merrillan Dec. 7th at the Methodist
Church. She was laid to rest in the Merrillan Cemetery. She leaves
to mourn her death two brothers and one sister, Steven and Irving
Depew of Coopers Plans, N.Y. and Mrs. Olive Horton of Neillsville,
Wis. Mrs. Olive Horton
