Herman John Noah, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Noah, was born
Nov. 23, 1895 at Neillsville, Clark County, Wis. Later he moved
with his parents to Greenwood, where they resided for twelve years.
He was confirmed at Neillsville April 4, 1909, at St. John's
Church. After that he moved with his parents of Loyal, where hel
lived until he enlisted in the United states Marines at
Minneapolis, Minn. From here he went to San Francisco, Cal., where
he stayed for some time and then went to Philadelphia, Pa. He
stayed in the East until he went to France in the fall of 1918 and
returned Aug. 1919 and went to Quantico, Va. He made his last
visit home, Sept. 10, 1919 and left here Oct. 6, 1919. He then went to
the Hayt Islands, where he died of gun shot wounds Jan. 22,
1920. Had he lived until
Feb. 2nd he would have been in service 4 years. Besides his father
and mother he leaves to mourn his loss 7 brothers, Edward, Arthur,
Herman, George, Willie, Alvin and Rudolph, and two sisters, Lena
and Martha, besides many relatives and a host of friends. (Loyal
