COUNTY REPUBLICAN & PRESS (Neillsville, Wis.) 03/11/1920 Southard, Herbert
A. (1878 - 3 Mar 1920) Herbert A.
Southard, who has been in poor health for some time, died at his
home on the North Side March 3, 1920, aged just 42 years. He was
born in Maine and came here (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Southard when he was 7 years old.
He grew to manhood here, attended Neillsville School and worked
about home and around the city and on farms. He went west a few
years ago and took up a claim, but poor health compelled him to
return here. He was a quiet, honest, industrious man, faithful in
all his work and dealings. Everyone who knew him was his friend. He
leaves his aged mother, four brothers, Warren, Will and George at
home, and John at Park Falls; three sisters, Mrs. Chas. Rose of
Neillsville, Mrs. Sarah Elder of Butte, Mont., and Mrs. Jennings of
Aberdeen, Wash. Mrs. Elder arrived Saturday night to attend the
funeral which was held Sunday afternoon at the home under the
auspices of the Modern Woodmen, of which the deceased had long been
a faithful member. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
