OCT 1853 - 8 Mar 1920) Mrs. Julia Wood
died Monday March 8, 1920, at the hospital in Eau Claire where she
had been several weeks. She had her hip bone broken and after being
at the hospital for a time, appeared to be getting well, but
gradually began to grow weaker till she died. Mrs. Wood, whose
maiden name was Julia Wyker, was born Oct. 19, 1853. She was
married to Joseph Wood Aug. 14, 1871, and they were among the early
settlers of the town of Hewett, Clark County, Wis., which was her
home until her death. Mr. Wood died Nov. 30, 1898. Deceased was a
woman with the greatest kindness of heart. She came into a new
country when it was a wilderness and where people all tried to help
one another when in need and in that life she did well her part.
She leaves four daughters: Mrs. Wm. Ritchie, Mrs. Geo. Forbush,
Mrs. John Galbreath, and Mrs. C. B. Dresden; and two sons, Joseph
and David. The funeral will be held at the Congregational Church at
