Kaufmann passed away at the home of her son, Frank, Friday morning
March 19, 1920, after an illness of several weeks duration. She was
born Augusta Lautenbach, Aug. 22, 1847 in Orlanunde, Sachen
Altenburg, Germany. She was married to
Christian Kaufmann in 1865. In May 1883 she, with her husband,
mother and children, came to this country and settled on a farm in
the town of Grant, Clark County, Wis., where she lived until about
six years ago, when she moved to Neillsville with her son where she
resided until death called her away. She leaves to mourn her loss
one son, Frank, of Neillsville and three daughters, Alvina, Mrs.
August Worchel of Globe, Minnie, Mrs. Charles Buddinger of York and
Olga, Mrs. Willard Hall of Jim Falls. All with the exception of
Mrs. Hall were at her bedside when the death angel came. She is also
survived by 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was a
kind and loving mother and neighbor, and was loved by all that knew
her. The funeral was
held Monday afternoon at the St. John's Lutheran Church at
Neillsville, Rev. Brandt officiating. She was laid to rest beside
