Smidtka, Eva (1823? - 19 Jul 1889)

Mrs. Eva Smidtka, who has resided one mile north of the village (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) with her son Edward during the past five years, was almost instantly killed on Friday evening last by falling from a load of hay in the field. The accident was caused by the team starting unexpectedly, one of the wagon wheels striking a stump, causing her to lose her balance and fall backward to the ground. She survived by an hour when death relived her. Deceased was 68 years of age. Her remains were buried at the Thorp Catholic Cemetery on Sunday morning last.
