COURIER (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) 03/09/1888 Martin, Matthew J.
(1840 - 5 Mar 1888) Died, at his
residence in this village (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.), on March 5,
1888, of erysipelas, Matthew J. Martin, aged 47. M. J. Martin was
born near Racine, Wis. in 1840 and came to this village five years
ago from Eau Claire, where he had resided a number of years. For a
long time he has been in poor health, but striving manfully to keep
his family from want, going to his daily labor without murmur when
utterly unfit to work. He was a quiet unassuming man, respected by
all friends and acquaintances, and his family has the sincere
sympathy of the whole community. He leaves a wife, with two little
daughters and stepson, George Hellter, to mourn his demise, also a
brother located at Raymond, Dakota, who was unable to be present at
the funeral, which occurred at the Thorp Catholic Church on
Wednesday morning, Rev. Father Untraut officiating, the remains
being interred in the Thorp Catholic Cemetery. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
