Bauer, Catherine M. (13 Feb 1914 - 30 Jan 2003)

Catherine M. Bauer, 88, Colby, formerly of Loyal, Clark County, Wis., died on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at the Colonial Center, Colby. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Monday, Feb. 3, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. The Rev. Roman Kaiser officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Karl Johnson, Kent Johnson, Kane Johnson, Mike Beaver, Eric Bauer and Mitch Lindner.

Catherine Marie Beaver was born on Feb. 13, 1914, in Loyal, to Michael and Alma (nee Bassett) Beaver. She graduated from Loyal High School. Following her education, she did domestic work in the Loyal area. She married Joseph Bauer in 1938 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. They moved to Milwaukee for a year, then returned to Loyal, where she held several jobs, including working at the bakery, Newman’s Restaurant, E-Z Camper, and St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, for 17 years. Following her retirement, she took care of people in the Loyal area. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Church and its PCCW. Her interests included reading.

Survivors include two sons, James (Mary Ann) Beaver, Loyal, and Michael (Carol) Bauer, Loyal; one daughter, Margaret "Mugs" (Jack) Johnson, Spencer; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, John Beaver, Loyal; and one brother-in-law, Albert Degenhardt, Milwaukee.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Dorothy Degenhardt and Louise "Tudi" Schmidt; and one great-grandson, Bradley Johnson, in 1989.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, assisted the family with arrangements.
