She graduated from Granton High School and then attended Teacher's Training in Neillsville. She graduated a year later and taught for one year at the Columbia School in Hewitt Township. On January 24, 1934, she married Frederick Elmhorst at the Zion Lutheran Church in Granton. After their marriage they farmed in the town of York. Along with helping with the farming duties, Christine also raised her family and did the bookkeeping for her husband's logging business. In their retirement years, they enjoyed selling Christmas trees in South Dakota and Texas and traveling throughout the United States. Christine enjoyed attending the Lutheran Women's Missionary League at the Zion Lutheran Church in Granton. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Memorial Nursing Home in Neillsville. She would often tape the church service at the Zion Lutheran Church and then play it for the residents of the nursing home. She will be remembered as a loving mother and wonderful role model.
