COURIER (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) 05/17/1894 Hirschey, Julius
(12 Sep 1828 - 13 May 1894) Julius Hirschey,
of whose illness mention was made in last week's issue, died on
Sunday afternoon last at 2 p.m., during the morning of which he
suffered another stroke of paralysis from which he was unable to
revive. Mr. Hirschey was born on Sept. 12, 1828 at Chaux de Funds,
Switzerland, where he was married and continued to reside until
1880, when he immigrated to this country, settling at Eau Claire,
where he followed his profession of watchmaker for a period of six
years. In 1880 he purchased a farm five miles south of this village
(Thorp, Clark County, Wis.), and moved his family here the same
years, where he has continued residence since. About six weeks ago
while felling a tree a dead limb struck him on the head, which
caused him but little pain at first but resulted in two strokes of
paralysis from which he died. He leaves a wife and eight children,
four boys and four girls, Fritz, Leopold, Ferdinand and Louis, and
Louisa, Elsie, Stella, and Bertha. Fritz, Louis and Stella are
still residents of Switzerland and intended paying their parents
here a visit next month. The funeral occurred here on Tuesday, Rev.
J. B. Bachman officiating. The interment took place in the Thorp
village cemetery. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
