Aucutt died at her home in this village (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.)
on Saturday morning last, after an illness extending over a period
of about four weeks. Her maiden name was Emma Staves and she was
born in Lincolnshire, England, on May 16, 1838, and when eleven
years of age came tot his country with her parents who first
settled in New York, but one year later removed to the then "New
West" and located at Kingston, Green Lake County, Wis., where on
Feb. 17, 1855, she was united in marriage to James W. Aucutt. After
a residence of twenty years at Kingston she removed with her
husband and children to Seymour, thence to Antigo and Manawa, and
seven years ago to this village. Though never an active member of
any church, she was nevertheless a Christian and a good mother. She
leaves to mourn, a husband and seven children, Charles L. of
Antigo, Eugene of New London, William, Harry, Mrs. Lena Car, Fred
and Emmett of this village. The funeral occurred at 2 p.m. on
Monday from the Baptist Church, Rev. J. B. Bachman officiating, and
