Burkhardt, Christopher (1837? - 14 Apr 1903)

Christopher Burkhardt, an old resident of the town of Reseburg, died at Gus Schmidt's home in this village (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) on Tuesday after an illness of three days, aged sixty-five years. Mr. Burkhardt suffered from an attack of hemorrhage of the lungs at the home of his nephew, Caesar Barth, in the town of Reseburg early on Sunday morning and was later in the day brought to this village. His condition being serious, he soon lapsed into unconsciousness and passed peacefully away about noon on Tuesday. He was a civil war veteran and bore the marks of many wounds inflicted while doing service in the south. His remains will be taken to Kiel, Wis. today for interment.
