COURIER (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) 12/18/1902 Boynton, Essie
(Marriage - 10 Dec 1902) William Shaffer of
Medford, Wis. and Miss Essie Boynton of this village (Thorp, Clark
County, Wis.), were united in marriage Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1902, at
the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Boynton. Rev.
Soule officiating. Chester H. Boynton, brother of the bride,
performed the duties of best man. Miss Anna Hoppe of Medford acted
as maid of honor and Miss Cora Boynton as bridesmaid. Both were
very becomingly attired and wore a bouquet of white carnations. The
bride was dressed in a pretty white crepe de Chine, and carried
bride's roses. After extending congratulations the company repaired
to the dining room where a sumptuous repast was served. Mr. Shaffer
is well known at Medford and generally esteemed for his exemplary
habits. Miss Boynton has taught several terms of school in Taylor
Co. and ever with good success. She has many friends in this
vicinity, all of which join in wishing them a bright and happy
future. Mr. Shaffer made a very favorable impression on all who met
him here. He recently purchased a neat residence at Westboro, where
