The mill pictured above belonged to Paul A. Paulson, who left behind him a record of open-handed generosity. He always had a job for a man who needed it, and he always shelled out money to him who asked for it, provided he had any left. He did not always make the money come out even, but that was only a small difficulty growing out of a large virtue.
In another respect Mr. Paulson was also exceptional, as thrifty Danes go, for he is alleged to have been the only Democrat in Withee. Therefore Woodrow Wilson, as president of the United States, was in duty bound to make Paul the postmaster at Withee, where he handled less money and also had fewer troubles.
