Sheldon of Longwood, Clark County, Wis., died at his home on
Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1903, after an illness of several months duration.
He was born in Onondaga Co., N.Y., Oct. 16, 1839, and soon after
removed to near Detroit, Mich. with his parents. He served in the
Civil War for three years in Company B, Second Michigan Volunteer
Infantry, and was in all the battles from first Bull Run to that of
the Wilderness and North Auna, including Spottsylvania Court House,
second Bull Run, Fredericksburg, Manassas Junction, Knoxville, and
others. He came to Clark County in 1867, settling on a homestead
near Longwood, where he has since resided. Mr. Sheldon was married
at Saginaw, Mich., to Ellen E. Clark, who died Sept. 22, 1888. He
leaves four children, Wm. A., Albertis, Frank L. and Nancy M., and
one sister, Mrs. P. F. Lantz, of this village. The funeral took
