COURIER (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) 06/07/1906 Rhea, Clinton (11
JUL 1892 - 2 Jun 1906) An accident
resulting in the death of Clinton, son of A. O. Rhea, occurred
during the noon hour on Saturday last. The tragedy was enacted but
a few steps south of the Rhea home, where Clinton Rhea and Ignatz
Prybylski, son of Val Prybylski of the town of Withee, Clark
County, Wis., aged about fifteen years, were engaged in shooting at
a mark with a 22-caliber rifle. The weapon belonged to young
Prybylski and the boys had been forbidden time and again to use it
on the premises, but the vigilance of the family was evaded somehow
on this occasion, and, probably in a friendly scuffle for
possession of the gun the same was discharged, the bullet entering
the abdomen of Clinton, resulting in excessive hemorrhage and death
in less than two minutes after the discharge of the gun. Clinton
Leonidas Rhea was born on July 11, 1892, at West Salem, Wis., and
was the only son of A. O. and Celia Rhea, and came to this village
with his parents in 1893. He was a good boy, energetic in his
studies at school, helpful about his home, where his interests in
work pertaining to the farm were centered, and the pride of his
parents. The funeral occurred from the home on Monday at 2 o'clock
p.m., Rev. A. B. Soule of Marshfield, officiating. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
